Back In the groove!

Sorry for taking such a long break from the blog (and working out). We found out last Wednesday that our foster son, Chance, would be moving to his grandmother's. This was devastating news to us as we love him very much and he's become a part of our family!!! Needless to say, I had a lot to do to get him packed up and spent every spare moment with him. We were also planning on traveling to WI for the weekend as my brother Geno is getting married in June. This weekend was my future sis in law's shower and so we drove up to WI for that. It was a very busy weekend.
In addition to all that, I found out why I have been tired so much lately and why I haven't been able to lose weight, despite my diligent efforts. My thyroid is way off it's rocker. Thankfully, it's fixable . I'm taking Armour, a natural thyroid medication to hopefully get things back in balance. And hopefully I can finally shed all this extra weight I've been trying to shed!!!!! :-)

Now, to TODAY'S workout!!! I just did 20 min's of 1 minute circuit intervals so set your Gymboss or other timer to 20 intervals of 5 seconds and 1 minute. You'll have 5 seconds between your 1 minute intervals to transition.

Here are the Intervals I did. Each of them was a minute long.

1 Cardio ~ I did step touches with dynamic stretching
2 Cardio ~ I did marching with dynamic stretching
3 Pushups
4 Cardio ~ I did high knees with jump rope
5 Squats
6 Cardio ~ I did running in place
7 Bicep Curls
8 Cardio ~ I did jumping jacks
9 Lying Hamstring Presses
10 Cardio ~ I did low hamstring curls
11 Tricep Kickbacks
12 Alternating Side Leg Raises

Hitting it HARD today!

I've got a tough, but effective interval workout today. We'll be doing 4 exercises today; Classic Burpees, jumping jacks, Starburst Burpees and High Knees. Set your interval timer for 20 rounds of 15 sec's and 45 sec's. You'll do as many burpees as you can in 45 sec's and then take 15 sec's to write down your score and catch your breath. Then do as many Jumping Jacks as you can in 45 sec's, taking 15 sec's to write your score etc... Do the same with Starburst Burpees and High Knees. Then repeat this cycle 4 more times for a total of 20 min's. I just finished this workout and here are my scores....

Classic Burpees 11, 10, 8, 8, 8
Jumping Jacks 49, 48, 46, 45 47
Starburst Burpees 10, 9, 6, 8, 9
Knees Ups 100, 103, 104, 100, 106

You should be breathless and not able to do any more burpees by the end of the 20 min's.

Classic Burpees... jump down with hands on ground, jump legs out to plank position, jump legs back in, jump up to standing position.
Starburst Burpees are similar except you jump you legs out wide and when you jump up to standing position, you jump your legs out then, also!

Yay! It's FRIDAY!!!

Just finished my Friday interval workout at here at BodyRockTv! My legs were shaking when I was done!!!! Tomorrow will be a lighter day for me. Maybe just some cardio intervals without using any major muscle groups. My calves are pretty sore from the last several days.
I'm posting my log so you can see how I did. There's 2 total rounds of several exercises, but if you are a beginner, I would just stick with one round and then do some cardio for the last 10 min's. The only modifications I made were that I did the pushups on my knees and I used a 15 lb dumbell since I don't have a sandbag (yet). It worked just fine. Otherwise I stuck to the workout as is.
On top of my workout yesterday, I also push mowed our backyard and then helped my husband put in field tile for 1.5 hours. It hurt to laugh this morning!
Oh yes, in case you are wondering about an interval training timer, this is the one I use and also the one they use on BodyRockTv. It is a very handy little device. It also has a clip you can use and comes with user friendly instructions. You can also get an armband for it now. How cool! I think there's an armband for most anything these days
!!! LOL!
Have a great weekend! Happy Mother's Day to all you Mom's out there!!!!
